  I generally try to find the source of the odour. Then put shampoo on it and scrub it.

  If the cat peed somewhere, febreeze isn’t going to do squat. You need an enzyme-based cleaner from a pet store specifically designed to deal with pet messes

    Thanks for the advice! As it turned out, the problem may have been some rusty seepage from a bad bit of plumbing connected to my hot water tank. Apparently I should go into my storage room more often.
