Extra things:

Maybe this is Too Much Information; before starting the test, the audiologist had to pry a horrific (and painful) amount of wax out of my right ear. The effect was not unlike this. 

Also: After yesterday night’s lil’ debacle, I installed a new thing on my computer monitor.
